November's #LAWatchGang GTG was by far our largest and craziest GTG so far, with special guest Devon Works. From a vintage Heuer Monaco to the ultra-futuristic Devon Tread 1, this GTG was simply WOW... overstimulated is an understatement.
The Devon Works timepieces are something that need to be experienced first hard to fully appreciate the technology and innovation behind these insane watches. Easily the only battery operated watch that I would purchase, excluding G-Shocks of course. The company is definitely looking to gain more legitimacy in the watch world by planning to offer a fully mechanical watch next year (which will include an in-house American movement by RGM).
Thomas, from their R&D department, came with a backpack full of Devon goodies... a Tread 1 and three different Tread 2s! The Tread 1 was the company's first stab at watchmaking and what a way to start. This extremely large (yet amazingly comfortable) and completely unconventional watch displays time using tread technology. Time is displayed using a system of multiple interwoven moving belts which is easy to read and incredibly enjoyable to stare at.
The Tread 2 is their newer and more subtle version of the Tread 1... with a 44mm case size, which is far more "normal" in size. For the watch fans that love the tread technology and overall design of the Tread 1 but find it too large, the Tread 2 is the answer to their prayers.
A few Audemars Piguets were also in attendance... but these two beauties stole the AP show. The rose gold Royal Oak Chronograph and the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar.
For the vintage fans, here is a Heuer Monaco Chrono.
Some of the other watches that attended this GTG include: IWC Ingenieur Chronograph, PAM 424, PAM 337, PAM 177, Girard-Perregaux Chrono Hawk, CT Scuderia Dashboard, AP Jumbo, AP Diver, Vintage Rolex Submariner, Rolex GMT two-tone, Vintage Rolex GMT, Habring2 Chrono, Patek Philippe Nautilus, Blancpain, Omega Seamaster, Casio Calculator, and an IWC Pilot Chronograph.
