When I first saw images of this watch it was love at first sight. The vintage style bracelet, the limited edition details, the subtle grey dial, and the two tone color scheme were all too much to resist. To my fortune, I was one of the lucky ones out of 6,969 people that would be receiving this beautiful watch. The number of pieces for this “limited edition” Apollo 11 50th Anniversary is arguably laughable, but it is probably also why I was able to secure one so I am not going to complain.
It was definitely not in my plans to add another Speedmaster to my collection (this watch joins the original Dark Side of the Moon Speedmaster). In fact, I had been eyeing the Seamaster 300M with the blue dial for quite some time. However, considering how different this variant is compared to the Dark Side of the Moon, I think there is plenty of room for both of them to be in any collection.
Aside from its beauty, this watch is incredibly comfortable on the wrist. It is light weight and the design of the bracelet allows for extra articulation. And in true Omega style, this limited edition watch comes in an obscenely, but excellently crafted, extra-large box. All-in-all, I love this watch and the history it tries to celebrate.
